Design-build of a new two-story, 47,545 sf Community Services/Recreation Center. The project will occur in two phases and be built adjacent to the existing complex. Built on a mountainside by a native trout stream, the project faced logistical challenges. Named after WWII POW Jacob Cornsilk, the design incorporates memorial elements and reclaimed original wood framing. The 47,545 sq. ft. facility features a steel frame, concrete slab, and metal decking. Initially, temporary facilities were created for staff and patrons, while the new 2-story building was constructed. It now serves the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, housing a gym, fitness center, clinic, dental clinic, police station, library, transit department, and administrative offices.
