The Novant Dialysis Center at Presbyterian Main Hospital in Charlotte consisted of renovating a dated area of the hospital into a new, state-of-the-art Dialysis Center located on the 4th floor of an existing tower. The Dialysis Center features room for 14 beds, including two single bed areas, an IT/server room, restrooms, staff/administration area, chemical/treatment holding tank area, storage, and city views.
The project was located above high-tech lab equipment and space, and adjacent to two OR and ICU spaces. Due to logistical challenges, including a seven-floor med-gas and oxygen shut down while tying into the new lines on the Dialysis Center, our team maintained constant contact with the Hospital staff and took extreme caution to ensure the shut-down were completed properly.
In order to complete the project, a temporary construction entrance was constructed to allow for minimal disruption to ongoing operations for the hospital. All deliveries were scheduled during times that allowed for patient rest, as well as to keep a quiet environment. Extensive coordination was conducted with the lab space below to abide by “quiet times” for lab operation and research.
