The new Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital is sandwiched on a tight site between the existing Ortho Hospital and OrthoCarolina. Vannoy provided preconstruction and construction services for the new 3-story, 90,000 sf addition, as well as the 12,000 sf renovation. The facility includes 32 Patient Rooms, state-of-the-art Operating Rooms, Central Processing Department, PACU, Imaging Department, an expansion of their existing Central Energy Plant, Connector Bridge, and Educational Classrooms.
Construction began late in 2015 on this 7-phased project, all of which were managed to limit the impact on hospital operations. The first phase of construction involved relocating the main entrance of the hospital so that construction of the tower could begin. The project also involved relocating all of the main hospital utility services, and included major utility shutdowns and tie-ins. The project was performed with very tight working conditions and limited construction laydown.
